I just found out my ex husband has been molesting my 4 and a half year old. The legal process is long and exhausting. This all happened in December and its almost the end of January and he is still as free as a bird and still a preditor to the neighbourhood kids and other familiy members with kids who go there.
His daughter from his 1st wife also claims to have been molested by him. To think if there was some kind of a list showing sex offenders I would never even had married the dirty pig.
I have the right to know who to protect my child from. Sex offenders give up their rights to be treated like normal human beings with rights the minute they lay their dirty, stinking, perverted hands on an innocent defenseless child.

it is all good and well – protecting the individual, privacy, etc etc. These offenders gave up their rights the moment they took that first step to attempt these deeds. I am sorry, but their details should be made public. Take it for yourself … won’t you think twice before committing a crime if you know your name and picture is out there for everyone to see? Why are the identity of murders published? Molestation and rape are worse – far worse!!!! Only a woman who went through something like this will understand.
Dave, thank you – I will commit with you. Louise’s death won’t be just another statistic!

Firstly I want to say to the De Waal family that the whole South Africa is in mourning with you. You are in our thoughts and prayers every day. Johannes / Jaco Steyn is a resident in the suburb I am staying. I do believe that there are 3 other paedophiles living in our quite suburb. Why can I not have access to their identity, to show and warn my children? Why is the law protecting these people?? What about our children do they not have the right to be protected?? Who and what is our law actually protecting, the victim or the offender??? Seems that offenders have more rights in this country than our children.

We live amongst savages. I myself am a victim of sexual abuse and I can tell you it plays on you for the rest of yur life. It messes up your physch. These savages should be hung. Not even animals are unkind to their young. And Nambla…how sick and twisted they justify their own behaviour. I AM ALL FOR THE REGISTER.

I am Louise De Waals brother-in-law and our family has been devastated by a convicted pedophile who was known to the police. So well known that they knew from the identikit where he lived and who he was. But as i’m sure you all know, it was all for naught. We will never know if a register would of made a difference for Louise but one can’t help but wonder.Everyone knows her name but no-one can tell us who he is… yet.

I would fully support a sex offenders list if it prevents another child being brutalised and killed. But as with anything it has been used and distributed responsibly. Perhaps obtaining a copy from an area’s police station that has to be signed out with a valid form of ID and proof of residencial address under supervision from a police officer would be a solution? Surely schools, creches, and after school facilities should be provided with a copy or at least pictures of the offenders. It is their responsibility to protect their students as much as it is to educate them.

RIP Louise De Waal i will strive to ensure that your murder was not just a meaningless statistic but a move to secure a safer future for all our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

My stepsister went through a horrible early childhood by someone she did not expect it from. Not that one expects it from anyone, but the shock & trauma was worse as a result.

In the “About Us” section, this man basically declares war on the family and on children’s rights – ironically, he claims to be fighting for children’s rights. I am appalled, and feel like I have to wash my eyes.

I have been involved for over 17 years preparing parents of children who have been sexually abused in going to court. Last year I published a book called “Every Parents Nightmare”. a guide for parents and teachers or anyone who deals with a child disclosing sexual abuse. I have dealt with cases where more than one child has been sexually abused by a paedohile , I am convinced from my experience in this field that had a register been available to parents and teachers , more children would have not been victims, as the parents could have checked up on the register to affirm the “rumors” of that particular paedophile. Another point that was very clear to me on more than 3 occasions was that the arresting officer is allowed to oppose bail if he knows that the arrested paedophile has been brought before court on previous charges of a similar nature. There are so many arguments for the paedophile register to be made available to the public that out weigh the reasons not to have one

Hi Natasha

I’m worried that just starting “our” own list may lead to legal complications. As much as we know these monsters are guilty, we unfortunately cannot classify them as such until they are found guilty by the court. I’m no lawyer but If I was you, I’d be very careful with how you proceed (hence the reason I had to edit your post to remove most of the name)
